Accessibility

Last updated: 4 July 2026

Harrimont is committed to inclusive design. We want everyone — regardless of ability, device or assistive technology — to be able to access our content and reach us with ease.

1. Our commitment

Accessibility is part of how we interpret our values of Excellence and Global Mindset: we want our website to work for the widest possible audience, on the widest possible range of devices and assistive technologies. We treat accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time checklist, and we improve the site as we learn.

2. Target standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These internationally recognised guidelines explain how to make web content more perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for people with a wide range of needs. Where we fall short of this target, we treat it as a defect to be fixed (see known limitations).

3. Measures we have taken

This site has been built with accessibility in mind from the start. Concrete measures currently in place include:

  • Semantic HTML and landmarks — pages use meaningful structure with header, nav, main and footer landmarks and a logical heading order, so assistive technologies can navigate and announce content correctly.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation — all interactive controls can be reached and used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to content” link lets keyboard and screen-reader users jump straight past the navigation, and visible focus styles make it clear which element is active.
  • Focus-trapped mobile menu — when the mobile navigation menu is open, keyboard focus is kept within it and returns to the trigger when closed, so users do not get lost behind the menu.
  • Sufficient colour contrast — text is set against its background to meet contrast expectations, including a darker gold tone reserved for text and links on light surfaces so that gold accents remain legible.
  • Descriptive alternatives and ARIA — meaningful images carry descriptive alt text while purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technologies, and interactive elements use clear labels and ARIA attributes (such as aria-label, aria-expanded and aria-controls) to communicate their state and purpose.
  • Reduced-motion mode — we respect the operating-system prefers-reduced-motion setting; when it is enabled, animations and motion effects are disabled for a calmer experience.
  • Responsive, resizable layout — content reflows across screen sizes and remains usable when text is enlarged or the browser is zoomed.

4. Works without JavaScript

Core content and navigation remain visible and usable even when JavaScript is unavailable or blocked. JavaScript is used only to enhance the experience — for example the mobile menu and the cookie-consent banner — and never to gate access to the information on the page.

5. Known limitations

We want to be honest about where we are still improving. Current known limitations include:

  • Ongoing testing — we have not yet completed a full audit against every WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criterion across all assistive technologies, so some issues may remain undiscovered.

Note: We have not yet obtained a formal third-party accessibility conformance certification. Any independent audit findings and a formal conformance statement will be published here once available. [To be completed]

6. Ongoing testing

We test the site using a combination of keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom and text-resize checks, automated accessibility tooling and manual review. Accessibility is considered as part of new work, and we address issues as they are identified. If you encounter a barrier that we have not yet caught, we would genuinely like to hear about it.

7. Feedback & contact

If you experience any difficulty accessing part of this website, or you have a suggestion that would help us improve, please contact us. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser or assistive technology you were using — that helps us reproduce and fix the issue quickly. We welcome reports of accessibility barriers and will do our best to provide the information you need in an accessible format.
